Nancy DeBoer hosts our City Connections
08-Dec-2011Nancy DeBoer, Holland City Council member at large, is volunteering to go on camera monthly to spotlight the many services provided by the City of Holland. She is hosting City Connections, a program produced in the MacMedia studios, then cablecast on Mac-TV, and made available online at macmedia.org.
“I am happy to serve in this volunteer role because it is all about what I love,” DeBoer said, “the people the places, the history, the fun and the golden organizations that have made this area so wonderful.”
In the current City Connections DeBoer talks about:
- Pickle ball. Have you tried this great indoor sport? Holland Recreation Coordinator Jeremy Myers explains.
- LED Christmas lights. They use a whole lot less energy and last much longer, according to Holland BPW Conservation Programs Manager Ann Saliers.
- National Shake Your Mailbox Day. Road Superintendent Nick King brings this up during a discussion about snow plow safety.
MacMedia Executive Director Barb Pyle said the City Connections program has been reenergized and reformatted and will focus on all aspects of Holland government. Subjects will include community and neighborhood services, transportation, leisure and culture activities, fiscal services, management and administration.
“We are pleased that Nancy has agreed to serve as host,” Pyle said. “She pours her heart into many activities in Holland and brings a wealth of knowledge about this community to the studio. ”
DeBoer said there is an abundance of material to choose from for future episodes of City Connections.
“If I can help people learn about the great things going on in the city and help them meet some of the talented people behind the scenes, I will feel fulfilled.”
Along with her duties as council member at large, DeBoer serves as executive director of the West Michigan Character Council.
